In the Spirit of Earth Day: Montana Business Raises Money for Conservation Groups
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 11th, 2007
Bozeman - For the past three years, a Montana business has helped support the work of area conservation groups in an unlikely way—by providing facials, massages, pedicures, manicures, and haircuts.
While other businesses throughout the state regard Earth Day as just another day in the calendar, employees at Sage Spa Living have been recognizing the grassroots nature of the holiday by volunteering their time and services in exchange for guest donations at their four spa locations in Bozeman, Whitefish, Billings, and Helena.
“Our annual Earth Day event is the cornerstone of Sage’s commitment to promote and inspire environmental stewardship,” said Justin Bigart, president and co-founder of Sage Spa Living.
According to Bigart, the event has grown from a small, locally focused idea in Bozeman, to a statewide event that raises awareness and thousands of dollars through the donations of guests and the commitment of the Sage Spa Team.
The money raised through these Earth Day events has gone a long way to help local conservation organizations like the Gallatin Valley Land Trust (GVLT) in Bozeman and the beautification and landscaping of Whitefish’s Community Skate Park. Gary Vodehnal, Trails Program Director at GVLT, commented on the first annual event, "We were extremely excited to be work with a local business that is so committed to making a positive impact in our community."
This year’s event will support the goals and work of the Montana-based conservation group, American Wildlands.
According to Faye Kommers, who heads up American Wildlands fund-raising program, “The funds raised from the generosity of the Sage Spa Living team members and their guests are a real boost in our effort to protect and connect wildlife habitat throughout the region.”
She noted, “The efforts of Sage Spa Living symbolize the altruistic goals of our Earth Day celebration."
This year’s event will take place on April 20, from 9 am to 7 pm. Guests will receive 30-minute Sage Spa experiences for donations of $25 dollars or more. For more information on the event visit: www.sagespaliving.com/earthday2007.php
